"I am very honoured to be taking the opportunity of becoming Chair for the Manchester Mortuary Staff forum. The beginning of this year has been a busy time with the development and introduction of this website and the excellent organisation and presentation of the annual NWMSF conference held at Manchester in April this year. The conference was a great success with an excellent bringing together of APT’s not only from the Northwest region but also other regions.
Past and present chairs for both Manchester and Merseyside have worked hard to achieve the evolution of not only the regional forums but also this website and maintaining strong relationships, which I aim to continue along with the current Chair of Merseyside.
I endeavour with the help of my fellow regional APT’s to continue building and developing the NWMSF by way of this website and local forums encouraging the joining of more and more members.
Our aim as APT’s is to be recognised professionally and to join together sharing knowledge and information and encouraging development with input from all our members.
Please come and join us."

"I can't believe that it has only been 3 short years since the start of the forum.
After being called Medical Technical Officers for so many years by our hospitals because
they did not realise our professional status then all of a sudden we are known as Anatomical
Pathology Technologists; in my opinion these changes have come about from the influences from
the AAPT and our own MMMSF voicing professional practice.
I was first approached by my colleague Mr. Ben Swift and asked to become a member of the Merseyside branch which I accepted with open arms. At last a local forum for techs run by techs sharing ideas and information.
We now have support from pathologists, laboratory mangers and companies. We have forged links with Scotland, London, and other regional networks and plan to get out there and meet more people face to face to encourage looking at what we are doing.
This year is going to be an exciting year for the forum with the launch of the web site. This will hopefully allow us to be able to reach more technicians and share each others knowledge and get more people interested in attending our conferences.
I was fortunate enough to become the Chair of the Merseyside group in late 2009 and I hope that I can follow in the footsteps of the last Chair person and keep pushing out ideas and hopes to move forward."
